The Short Answer: You either create a new league and invite friends to join, or you join an existing league using a League ID someone shared with you.
Two Paths Into a League
When you finish creating your account, you'll see a simple choice:
- Create a League — You start a new league and become the League Admin
- Join a League — You enter a League ID to join a league someone else created
Most managers join leagues with friends, coworkers, or online communities. The game is designed around private leagues where you know (or get to know) your competition.
Option 1: Create a League
Who Should Create a League?
Create a league if:
- You want to organize a league among your friend group
- You're willing to be the League Admin (commissioner)
- You have at least 2 other people ready to join (3-manager minimum)
How to Create a League
Step 1: Tap "Create a League"
From the "Do you have a league?" screen, select the create option.
Step 2: Name Your League
Enter a name for your league. This is what all managers will see.
Examples:
- "The Beautiful Game"
- "NYC Soccer Club"
- "Office FC"
- "College Roommates League"
Keep it clean — your leaguemates will see this all season.
Step 3: You're In
That's it. Your league is created, and you're automatically the League Admin.
You'll receive a League ID — a unique code that others use to join your league.
What You Get as League Admin
When you create a league, you become the League Admin with special responsibilities:
- Set the draft date and time
- Set the draft order
- Start the draft when everyone's ready
- Manage the league throughout the season
Your League ID
Every league has a unique League ID — a short code that looks something like:
482917
This is how other managers join your league. Share it with the people you want to play with.
Option 2: Join a League
Who Should Join a League?
Join a league if:
- Someone invited you to their league
- You have a League ID ready to enter
- You want to play but don't want to be the Admin
How to Join a League
Step 1: Get the League ID
The League Admin (or any existing member) will share the League ID with you. It might come via text message, group chat, email, social media DM, or in person.
Step 2: Tap "Join a League"
From the "Do you have a league?" screen, select the join option.
Step 3: Enter the League ID
Type in the League ID exactly as it was shared with you.
Step 4: You're In
If the League ID is valid, you'll be added to the league immediately. You'll see the league name and any other managers who have already joined.
What If the League ID Doesn't Work?
If you get an error:
- Double-check the code. Make sure you entered it exactly right — no extra spaces, correct numbers.
- Ask the Admin. They can confirm the correct League ID from their app.
- Check if the league is full. Leagues have a maximum of 12 managers. If it's full, you can't join.
Inviting Friends to Your League
How to Invite
Option 1: Share the League ID directly
Just send the League ID code to your friends via text, group chat, email, whatever. They enter it in the app to join.
Option 2: Use the Invite Friends button
The app has an "Invite Friends" button that opens your phone's native share sheet. This sends a pre-written message with your League ID and a link to download the app.
What to Tell Your Friends
When inviting friends, let them know:
- Download the app (if they haven't already)
- Create an account with their email
- Use this League ID: [your code]
- Be available for the draft on [date/time]
League Size
Minimum: 3 Managers
You need at least 3 managers to run a league. With 98 teams available and 10 teams per roster, 3 managers means 30 teams drafted — leaving 68 undrafted.
Maximum: 12 Managers
Leagues cap at 12 managers. With 12 managers drafting 10 teams each, that's 120 picks — but there are only 98 teams, so draft strategy becomes critical in larger leagues.
Recommended: 4-8 Managers
| League Size | Teams Drafted | Teams Undrafted | Vibe |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 managers | 30 | 68 | Very deep rosters, easy waiver wire |
| 4 managers | 40 | 58 | Plenty of quality available |
| 5 managers | 50 | 48 | Balanced |
| 6 managers | 60 | 38 | Getting competitive |
| 8 managers | 80 | 18 | Tight, strategic drafting |
| 10 managers | 100 | 0* | Every team owned |
| 12 managers | 120 | 0* | Scarcity mode |
Before the Draft
Once your league has enough managers, the League Admin needs to:
- Set the draft order — Decide who picks first, second, etc.
- Schedule the draft — Pick a date and time when everyone can attend
- Notify the league — Make sure everyone knows when to show up
As a regular manager (non-Admin), your job is to:
- Confirm you can attend the scheduled draft time
- Do your research on teams before the draft
- Show up ready to pick
See The Draft Explained for everything you need to know about draft day.
Can I Be in Multiple Leagues?
Yes. You can create or join multiple leagues with the same account.
Each league is completely separate — separate roster, separate draft, separate standings, separate competition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I join a league after the draft?
No. All managers must be in the league before the draft begins. Once the draft starts, the league is locked.
